The Marshall High School gym was filled with pride, gratitude, and excitement on May 13 as Pride in the Tiger Foundation honored the Class of 2026 during its annual Scholarship Ceremony.
This year’s event marked a historic milestone for the Foundation. Thanks to the generosity of donors, alumni, businesses, educators, and community members, Pride in the Tiger awarded its $3 millionth scholarship dollar since its founding in 1999.
In total, $262,931 in scholarships was awarded to Marshall High School seniors, helping students pursue their goals through universities, technical colleges, apprenticeships, military service, and other post-secondary pathways. The evening celebrated not only academic achievement, but also character, perseverance, leadership, service, and the unique talents of each recipient.
When the first scholarships were awarded to the Class of 2000, the Foundation awarded $35,460. Twenty-six years later, the impact has grown beyond what many could have imagined. Reaching the $3 million milestone reflects a community that believes in investing in its young people and creating opportunities for future generations.
The ceremony also highlighted the stories behind the scholarships. Donors and scholarship presenters shared their passion for supporting students and the lasting impact education can have on individuals, families, and communities. Their generosity ensures that each scholarship represents more than financial assistance; it is a vote of confidence in a student’s future.
As graduates crossed the stage to receive their awards, they were surrounded by family members, teachers, mentors, and supporters who have helped shape their journey. Special recognitions, including the Principal’s Award, Bud Rose Award, and Kaiser Award, honored students who exemplify leadership, integrity, sportsmanship, and service.
While the scholarship ceremony celebrates student achievement, it also serves as a reminder of what can be accomplished when a community comes together around a shared belief in education. Over the past decade, Pride in the Tiger Foundation has also invested $800,000 in classrooms through Teacher Impact Grants, supporting innovative learning opportunities for students across Marshall’s public and private schools.
