In the heart of Marshall, Minnesota, Pride in the Tiger Foundation (PITF) continues to make a significant impact on local education. This March, PITF awarded $45,241 in Teacher Impact Grants, bringing the total for the school year to an impressive $89,818. These grants are a testament to the Foundation’s commitment to both public and private schools in Marshall.
The process begins with educators from all Marshall schools submitting grant applications. These applications are meticulously reviewed by the Pride in the Tiger Foundation Teacher Impact Grant Committee. The committee evaluates each application based on how well it aligns with the Foundation’s mission, the clarity of its objectives, and its potential for lasting impact. After thorough consideration, the committee makes recommendations to the full PITF Board of Directors. Grants are awarded twice a year, in October and March, and this March saw seventy-three applications from teachers across Marshall.
The grants awarded in the March cycle supported a diverse array of educational initiatives. True Light Christian School received funding for social studies flashcards, LCD writing tablets, STEM kits, kite kits, field trips, and classroom books. Holy Redeemer School was granted “Wild About Robots” books and robots, along with a field trip. Samuel Lutheran School benefited from science lab materials, SW MN Orchestra, children’s theater, and field trips. Marshall public schools received support for metalworking tools, class cutting and leather making tools, a medical simulator, field trips, novel study books, science of reading materials, speech therapy games, “Wild About Robots” materials, calculators, a plasma cutter, Tiger Café equipment, Indigenous standard books, and Building Thinking Math Classrooms materials.
Executive Director Krista Bjella expressed her gratitude, stating, “The Pride in the Tiger Foundation can enhance learning in our schools thanks to the generosity of the Marshall community. Our local business sponsors, alumni, and community members support our mission through their consistent giving year after year.”
The Pride in the Tiger Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing financial and other support for activities and exceptional educational programs that foster children’s personal growth and development in their pursuit of excellence.
